Traditional Lecturer Tells Corps Members In Katsina

Dr Hamza of the Federal College of Education Katsina charges the 2024 Batch B stream 2 Corps .Members  deployed to Katsina state to respect the culture of their host communities

He stated  this during  his lectures to the Corps Members on Tuesday 3rd  August, , 2024 at the NYSC permanent orientation camp Mani road Katsina.

During the course of the lecture Which lasted for some days , Dr Hamza said the language of the people speaks volumes of their tradition and culture,he told the Corps Members to learn the Hausa language so as to be able to communicate effectively with the people

He highlighted some of the cultural practices like zero tolerance to body contact between male 5and female who are neither related nor married, squatting down to greet elders among others..

 Dr Hamza charges the Corps Members to explore the different opportunities that the Hausa people of their host communities offer. He highlighted how politicians manipulate the people using culture and traditions to canvas for their votes during political campaign.

 He asked the Corps Members to implore the same pattern but in a more constructive and positive manner.

Dr Hamza added that language  is a very powerful tool for development  as well as a tool for destruction. He
 therefore urges the Corps Members to use
 these opportunities to learn and speak the Hausa/Fulani language so as to imbibe the culture in Katsina state  and subsequently make positive impact .

The traditional lecturer inform the Corps Members that culture can also be determined by face value based on the dressing of an individual.

 Dr Hamza advised the  Members to cherish the people's culture and traditions, eat what they eat, seat where they seat and avoid criticizing the culture of their host communities.
